    Hmm I grill mine... 5-6 minutes per side with a glaze. I use oyster sauce, mirin, garlic, ginger, seasame seed oil and coconut palm sugar. Comes out very good with an avocado sushi rice. I mash avocado with lime juice, cumin and tomato. I make a thick green paste and use it liberally on the underside of the squid...

    Can I give you a small tip? The seaweed, when you wrap it all around the rice, the ends don’t stick. For that reason, I like to get just a couple grains of sticky rice and put them on the end of the seaweed, then sticking the end of the seaweed on, that way the end of the seaweed is also stuck on and the rice works like glue!! :D

    @How To Sushi. Crazzy concept: What if the Wasabi was grated in a vacuum and caned without any air, would that preserve the Wasabi and its flavor longer?

    • @howtosushi8176
      @howtosushi8176 Месяц назад

      Wasabi loses its fresh scent as it oxidizes. Therefore, preserving it in a vacuum-sealed pack is a good idea to maintain its quality longer. For long-term storage, freezing is also beneficial.

    I'm currently not drinking and can't risk having alcohol in my possession would it be OK without the sake

    • @howtosushi8176
      @howtosushi8176 2 месяца назад

      It might be a bit challenging, but there are some substitutions for alcoholic ingredients. Vinegar: brings out acidity similar to that of sake and balances the flavors. Fruit juice: such as apple juice adds sweetness and savory notes as a substitute for mirin. Feel free to tweak the amounts to suit your taste.

    0:58 Although the industry specialty term is "polish" (i.e. remove the outer part of the rice grain), it would be better to write, "40% of the rice grain is removed leaving a 60% core which is used in making sake."

    • @howtosushi8176
      @howtosushi8176 2 месяца назад

      Technically, yes.

    • @yishihara55527
      @yishihara55527 2 месяца назад

      @@howtosushi8176 Because in English, there is a connotation that the portion that is "polished" has value. For example, we don't polish shoes and then throw them away. "Milling" and "cutting" seem to be much better terms. 耳に痛い話ですが申し訳ありません。

    • @howtosushi8176
      @howtosushi8176 2 месяца назад

      @@yishihara55527 l believe the terminology ‘polish’ is used because sake brewing values the precision achieved through ‘polishing’ the rice, rather than simply grinding it away. It also reflects the careful and heartfelt approach that is at the core of the aesthetics of sake production.🤔

    • @yishihara55527
      @yishihara55527 2 месяца назад

      @@howtosushi8176 Then you would want to replace the subtitle with "40% of the rice grain is 'polished' away, leaving a 60% core which is used in making sake." If there are such high-level aesthetic values involved in sake production then perhaps that can be extended to providing high-quality subtitles in order to properly describe how the do-nothing-wrong Japanese produce their precious elixir. 🤔

    if the pronunciation is the original then i'm bothered by the modern spelling 😀who decided that spelling? it almost makes sense on it's own like geo could mean earth and duck...hmm ok that's still weird. why the "ck" if it's not meant to reference the animal duck. maybe guiduk is better (though seeing it i might call it "gwee-duck") gooey looks too silly for an animal name unless its main feature is that it's gooey.
